Bats show ability to instantly change ear shapes making hearing more flexible?

Rolf Muller, part of Viginia Tech, was studying horseshoe bats and learned that bats can change their earshape to extreme looks in order to magnify or hone in on objects or prey. While the horseshoe bat is the only bat that shows the ability to do this. The horseshoe bat does this in a tenth of a second but is only able to keep the shape for short amounts of time. Rolf Muller has conducted many experiments to see what changes in the same amount of time, a normal human being’s blink takes two to three times as long. Scientists around the world are using this knowledge to create high powered ultra sonic pulses that won’t disrupt bats sonar system.

I chose this article becauseĀ I like bats and I think their abilities to do such things are miraculous. I liked that a humans blink is longer than the bats ability and that blinking seems like its done before any time has passed.

Hello world!
